The Chinese Gold Panda is the official bullion coin of the People’s Republic of China. Struck from 24-karat gold, these coins were just the third modern gold bullion coin series ever released. 

First introduced in 1982, the Chinese Gold Panda series is renowned for its annually changing reverse design, making each year’s release a unique collector’s item. Each year, a new reverse design honors the Giant Panda by depicting these adorable animals in various playful scenarios. The obverse of the Chinese Gold Panda always features the Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests, an important building in Beijing’s Temple of Heaven. 

Until 2016, Chinese Gold Panda coins were released in troy ounces with sizes ranging from 1/20 oz to 1 oz. In 2016, the coins switched to using grams and are now available in 1g, 3g, 8g, 15g, and 30g denominations. Each 1 gram Chinese Gold Panda coin has a face value of 10 Yuan.
