First introduced in 1993, the Australian Silver Kangaroo features an image of the much-loved Australian marsupial. The coin’s reverse displays a bounding kangaroo surrounded by stylized rays of sunlight as well as the coin’s weight, purity, and year of issue. Until 2014, Silver Kangaroo Coins were struck from 999 pure silver. All coins released 2015 onwards are made from 999.9/1000 pure silver, making them amongst the purest silver bullion coins worldwide.
Coins released before 2024 feature a portrait of the late Queen Elizabeth II with 2023 editions featuring a special memorial. From 2024 onwards, Silver Kangaroos display an image of King Charles III on the obverse.
