PAMP Suisse is a leading global refinery in the realm of precious metals, crafting a distinguished array of investment-grade bullion items tailored for both wholesale and retail markets. Familiarly known as PAMP, it operates under the umbrella of the expansive MKS PAMP group, alongside MKS, MMTC-PAMP India, and the esteemed New York-based coin and bullion dealer Manfra, Tordella & Brookes (MTB).
Since its inception in 1977, PAMP (Produits Artistiques Métaux Précieux) has pioneered integrating artistic designs into its bullion bar repertoire, marking a significant milestone in the industry. Specializing in crafting gold, silver, platinum, and palladium bullion bars and coins, PAMP Suisse has garnered acclaim for the flawless quality and purity of its precious metals offerings. Its global presence resonates strongly, particularly in Asian and Middle Eastern markets.
History of PAMP Suisse
Established in 1977 in the Swiss Canton of Ticino, AMP, short for Produits Artistiques Métaux Précieux, or Precious Metals Artistic Products, began its journey. Nestled in Castel San Pietro, near the Italian border alongside renowned gold refineries Valcambi and Argor-Heraeus, PAMP strategically positioned itself to cater to the thriving gold market, particularly in Italy.
Initially focusing on crafting small minted gold bars, PAMP’s significance intertwines with the narrative of MKS, a Geneva-based precious metals trading company founded in 1979 by Mahmoud Kassem Shakarchi, a prominent gold trader from Beirut. Upon partnering with PAMP to distribute gold bars in the Middle East, MKS swiftly acquired a controlling interest in PAMP in 1981, expanding its global presence with foreign offices.
The narrative unfolds in 2001 when MKS acquired New York-based coin and bullion dealer Manfra, Tordella & Brookes (MTB). PAMP, in 2008, ventured into a joint refinery venture with India’s Metals and Minerals Trading Corporation (MMTC), catering to India’s burgeoning bullion market.
PAMP’s refinery boasts an annual gold refining capacity exceeding 450 tons, complemented by a silver refining capacity surpassing 600 tons. It also handles platinum and palladium. Its extensive product portfolio spans cast and minted bars, bullion coins, blanks, commemorative coins, alloys, grains, platinum, and palladium sponges.
