How much is a kilogram of gold?
A kilogram is 32.15 troy ounces. So we calculate the price of 1 kg of gold as the spot price per ounce in Singapore dollars multiplied by 32.1507. This is the value of the pure metal, without any dealer premium.
1 kg bars and the spot price
Large bars carry the lowest premium over spot per gram. That is why a 1 kg bar usually costs only a little more than its metal value, while small bars and coins cost noticeably more. Dealer prices may also include taxes, depending on the metal and the country.
Kilo bars and wholesale bars
The 1 kg bar is the most popular large bar among private investors. Central banks and the London wholesale market use Good Delivery bars of about 400 troy ounces, roughly 12.4 kg. Smaller bars (1–100 g) are easier to sell in parts but carry a higher premium per gram.
