About this product
A 100 gram silver coin at 999 fineness holds 100 g of pure silver, about 3.22 troy ounces. It is the largest silver coin in our Indian comparison and one of the most common ways to hold a meaningful amount of silver without moving to bars. Indian jewellers and refiners each sell their own 100 g designs, from plain refinery coins to Laxmi Ganesh motifs, and metalsradar groups them by weight and purity.
Where the 100 g coin fits
Silver coins in India range from a few grams to 100 g and more. As the weight rises, the making charge forms a smaller part of the price. In the offers we tracked, 100 g coins were cheaper per gram than 10 g coins at the same seller. That makes this size a practical choice for buyers who want silver for its metal value but still prefer a coin to a bar.
Price structure
- the value of 100 g of silver at the day’s rate,
- the seller’s making or minting charge,
- GST at 3%.
The IBJA quotes silver per kilogram, without GST and making charges. One tenth of that rate is the metal value of a 100 g coin. Compare the gap to each shop price on this page. For the bigger picture, our gold-silver ratio chart shows how silver has moved relative to gold.
Coin or 100 g bar?
Some sellers also offer 100 g silver bars. The silver content is the same at 999 fineness. A coin may come in a capsule and carry a design that suits gifting or puja; a bar is simpler and stacks more easily. Check both, since either can carry the lower premium.
Practical points
- Confirm 999 fineness on the coin and in the listing.
- Keep the invoice and any certificate together with the coin.
- Read the seller’s buyback or exchange policy in writing.
- Silver tarnishes. Keep the coin in an airtight capsule or pouch, away from humidity, rubber bands and household chemicals.
- If you buy several coins, record weights and invoices in one place so the holding is easy to value later.
