New Zealand Mint – history of the mint

New Zealand Mint is the only private mint in New Zealand. It has been producing bars, medals and coins for more than five decades, and uses precious metals of the highest purity for its products.

New Zealand Mint does not mint New Zealand dollars – the country’s official currency comes from the Royal Mint and Royal Canadian Mint on behalf of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand. Instead, New Zealand Mint fulfills orders from other countries to produce local currency. It is here that coins for Niue, Fiji and the Cook Islands are made.

New Zealand Mint today

New Zealand Mint’s products are in great demand among investors from all over the world. The mint is famous for its original designs relating not only to the history of the Pacific region, but also to contemporary pop culture. The collector’s products are made with the utmost precision and attention to detail. They have interesting designs and often appear in short, limited series, which increases their value on the market.

New Zealand Mint’s offerings include coins and figurines from the series:

  • DC Villains,
  • The Mandalorian™,
  • Star Wars™,
  • Marvel Spider-Man,
  • The Lord of the Rings™,
  • Harry Potter™.

The collector’s products are made of gold and silver, and some of the products are additionally finished with a colorful, decorative layer.

The New Zealand Mint also has bullion coins for sale. The current collection includes, among others:

  • Gold Kiwi,
  • Gold Turtle,
  • Silver Turtle,
  • Gold Bullion Coin Year of the Dragon 2024,
  • Silver Bullion Coin Year of the Rabbit 2023,
