It is the largest gold bar in our Indian comparison and is aimed at buyers who want plain bullion with a low making charge per gram. Each jeweller or refiner seals its bar in its own card and states its own fineness; among the 20 g bars we track, the stated purity is 999, and some refiners also make 999.9 bars.<\/p>\n
As with every gold product sold in India, the price has three parts: metal value at the day’s rate, a making or minting charge, and 3% GST on both. At 20 g the metal value dominates. The making charge per gram is usually lower than on small bars and coins from the same seller, which is the main reason to buy this size.<\/p>\n

Decide based on how you are likely to use the gold.<\/p>\n A 999.9 bar contains slightly more pure gold than a 999 bar of the same weight. The difference is small but measurable at 20 g.
