About this product

A 10 gram 24K gold bar contains 10 g of gold, about 0.322 troy ounces, and is the bar size that lines up directly with how gold is quoted in India. The IBJA publishes daily gold rates per 10 g, so a 10 g bar is the simplest bullion product to value. Indian jewellers and refiners sell it in sealed cards marked with weight, fineness and usually a serial number.

Same weight, different fineness

“24K” does not mean one exact purity. Among the 10 g bars we track, sellers state 999 or 999.9, and some 24K products elsewhere are sold at 995. At 10 g the difference between 995 and 999.9 is almost half a gram of pure gold. That is why metalsradar compares bars by weight and stated purity, and why you should read the fineness before looking at the price.

How the price compares with the daily rate

IBJA rates are given without 3% GST and making charges. A shop price adds:

  • the seller’s making or minting charge,
  • GST at 3% on metal value plus making charge.

So the shop price will always be above the published rate. The useful question is by how much. The list on this page shows each seller’s current price, and you can follow the metal value on our gold price per gram chart.

Who buys 10 g bars

A 10 g bar suits buyers who hold gold mainly for its metal value and want a lower making charge per gram than smaller pieces carry. It is also a convenient unit: a holding of several 10 g bars can be sold one at a time.

Bar or coin at 10 g?

The same sellers often offer a 10 g coin too. Gold content is identical at the same purity. Compare both, as the cheaper form can change from day to day.

What to keep and check

  • Fineness, weight and serial number on the card, matched against the invoice.
  • An unopened card. It protects the bar and makes later checks easier.
  • The seller’s written buyback or exchange policy.
  • Secure storage, such as a bank locker or home safe.

Frequently asked questions

Why does purity matter so much on a 10 g bar?

Between 995 and 999.9 fineness the difference is almost half a gram of pure gold in a 10 g bar. Compare bars of the same stated purity.

How does a 10 g bar compare with the IBJA rate?

IBJA publishes rates per 10 g without GST and making charges. The shop price adds both, so it is always higher.

How many troy ounces is a 10 g bar?

About 0.322 troy ounces.

Can I open the card to inspect the bar?

You can, but an unopened card with its serial number is easier for a later buyer to verify. Most buyers keep it sealed.
